FromSoftware announced via X on Tuesday that Elden Ring Nightreign will officially receive a two-player mode “at a later date.” This comes after director Junya Ishizaki admitted the developer “overlooked” a duos mode during development. The lack of two-player co-op has led to some frustration from players.
While Ishizaki had said the studio had been considering implementing duo support, players now have confirmation (though no set timeframe). Itll be a relief to some Nightfarers, as three-player co-op has led to pairs awkwardly trying to find a third to join.
Originally, Ishizaki said in December 2024 that the lack of duos was “was largely a game balancing decision.” Well have to wait and see if Nightreign also receives some gameplay balances when a duos mode launches to ensure its not as difficult as a solo expedition is. Speaking of which, Elden Ring Nightreign has just received a patch to make solo play more bearable for Nightfarers — but only a wee bit.
